Addition of new products gives publishers new options to reach a wider audience.

BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sovrn, advocate and partner to independent publishers, who represent more than 80,000 websites, has completed the purchase of the Editorial Assistant and Related Posts technology and assets from New York based Zemanta, Inc. Terms of the deal are not being disclosed. The purchase does not include any current Zemanta, Inc. employees. Zemanta, Inc. will continue their focus on their Zemanta One marketing content distribution platform.

The Editorial Assistant and Related Posts products, with more than 260,000 active WordPress installs, enable easier and more relevant creation and distribution of content for publishers.

“With this acquisition, we’re giving publishers editorial and content creation technology that helps them write better, more relevant, and richer content. Not only does it make creating better content, easier; it also enables access to a larger audience of engaged readers through related content suggestions for text, images and video,” said Walter Knapp, CEO of Sovrn. “Tools like these that place a high value on content creation and relevancy are part of our ongoing mission to provide publishers more ways to succeed.”

“We are proud of what we built and accomplished with the popular Editorial Assistant and Related Content Products,” said Todd Sawicki, CEO of Zemanta, Inc. “The sale to Sovrn allows these fantastic publisher tools to take on a new phase of growth.”

The Sovrn and Zemanta teams will immediately begin the process of transitioning the Editorial Assistant and Related Posts products to Sovrn. The transition process should be completed by the end of September.

Going forward Sovrn will be investing additional resources to enhance and increase quality content as well as faster and easier ways to add contextually relevant articles, photos, and video.
