Anywhere & Manually Created Links

Last Updated November 6, 2020

Anywhere lets you use Sovrn //Commerce on your favorite social networks. You can use Anywhere to create one-off affiliate links you can share — as the name indicates — anywhere, including social media and even emails.
You cannot install the JavaScript everywhere you would like to monetize content (social media, email campaigns, etc.) since it requires editing HTML. To address this limitation, Sovrn //Commerce developed a link wrapping tool for easy, straightforward sharing of affiliated URLs.

Anywhere

The Anywhere tool can be accessed at Anywhere.

  1. Be sure to select the Site you want to use.
  2. In the “Enter a URL” field, paste a regular merchant URL that you want Anywhere to affiliate. By regular we mean unaffiliated URLs, like this Macy’s link to a Calvin Klein wallet.
    https://www.macys.com/shop/product/calvin-klein-signature-top-zip-wallet?ID=8751234&CategoryID=199162
  3. If desired, you can track individual links with CUID. Click here to learn more.
  4. The “Optimize Link” setting will allow Sovrn //Commerce to redirect your link to a different merchant that is carrying the exact same product but is paying a higher commission rate. Click here to learn more.
  5. If desired, you can shorten your URL with Bit.ly. Note that you should alwayswrap your merchant link in a Anywhere redirect first before shortening it with a link shortener.
  6. Click the “Build” button and voila: your link’s changed to a redirect with your unique API key:http://redirect.viglink.com?key=5d234b87b690d5f9b7a4672f4348dd8e&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww1.macys.com%2Fshop%2Fproduct%2Ffossil-piper-leather-small-crossbody%3FID%3D2913335(Keep in mind that this example uses one of our master account’s API keys; you should use the unique API key generated when you created your Site so that all clicks and revenue correctly track to your Publisher Dashboard.)
//Commerce Extension for Chrome

You can now generate monetized //Commerce links straight from your internet browser. To do so, simply download the //Commerce extension for Google Chrome. Once you’ve installed, navigate to a product page. Click on the extension to instantly see which of our 70,000+ affiliate merchants pay the highest commission rate, as well as available coupons and other retailers that sell the same product.

When you’re ready, automatically shorten and copy the link, then share it across websites, social networks, and even emails.

Alternatively, you can create a link to a merchant homepage. In either case (whether you link to a product or a homepage), any eligible product your reader buys from that click session will result in a commission for you, the publisher. In addition, Anywhere links are attached directly to your account, meaning that you’ll still be capitalizing on all of the CPA (cost per action) and CPC (cost per click) deals you’re enrolled in. In other words: download the extension, build the link, and we’ll do the rest.

Wrapping in bulk

Wrapping links is easy using the Anywhere tool. However, you may want to wrap multiple links at once. To make it easy, we’ve built a Google spreadsheet that you can use to wrap multiple links quickly. Go to File > Make A Copy and just enter your links into Column A to generate wrapped links.

Wrapping manually

You can also wrap the links manually. Your links should be formatted like this:
http://redirect.viglink.com?key=[Your_API_KEY]&out=[URL]
Just replace everything in the brackets, including the brackets themselves.
[Your_API_KEY]
You can find your API key on the Sites page ( https://publishers.viglink.com/publisher/sites ) of your Sovrn //Commerce account. Look for the key icon (Screen_Shot_2018-09-18_at_3.30.39_PM.png) under the “Actions” section.
[URL]
This is the URL you want to affiliate. You need to make sure to “HTML encode” the URL to ensure VigLink works properly. You can easily encode URL’s here. Just enter your URL and click “encode.”
Important! Make sure not to encode the entire wrapped URL — just the URL you want to affiliate.
